Step 1 · Describe it
Say what you ate.
Type it the way you'd tell a friend. Include an amount if you know one, like 200 g of rice or a large glass of milk, and Elyptus estimates the rest. You can describe a whole day at once, too.

Step 2 · Check it
See what it understood.
Elyptus lists the foods it recognised, the calories, and the nutrients you've chosen. It says what it assumed, like “cooked in a little oil”, and how confident it is.
Step 3 · Correct it
Change anything that's off.
Edit the totals directly, or correct it in words: “there was no oil”, “it was a small portion”. Elyptus estimates again with what you've told it.
Corrections never use a free meal.

Step 4 · See your day
Watch your day add up.
Today totals your meals as you go, and the Journal keeps every day, to look back on or change.

Step 5 · See your weeks
Watch the patterns, not the numbers.
Progress shows your calories day by day, and a chart for each nutrient you've chosen, by week or by month. Set your own goals if you want them. There are no scores and no streaks.

Questions
Do I need to weigh my food?
No. A description is enough. If you know an amount, such as 200 g of rice, include it and the estimate uses it.
How accurate are the estimates?
They're estimates, and Elyptus says so. Each one shows what it assumed and how confident it is, and you can correct it.
Do corrections use up free meals?
No. Only a meal's first estimate uses one. Corrections and retries are free.
Do I need an account?
Not for your first 20 meals. Sign in with Google to keep your journal across phones, and to subscribe.
What happens after my 20 free meals?
Your journal stays readable. To keep estimating new meals, sign in and subscribe for £4.99 a month.
Which nutrients does it show?
Calories always, and any of protein, carbs, sugar, fat, saturated fat and fibre that you choose, counted the way UK and EU labels count them.
Where do my meal descriptions go?
To our server, and to an AI service that makes the estimate and doesn't train on them. The privacy policy has the details.
Is it medical advice?
No. Elyptus estimates what you ate. If you have a medical condition or an eating disorder, please talk to a qualified professional.
Is it on iPhone?
Not yet. Elyptus is on Android first.
Elyptus is coming to Google Play.
