Terms
These terms are the agreement between you and Michael Ehson Ernest Henderson, trading as Tacitus Tech (“we”), who make Elyptus. By using Elyptus you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains what happens to your information.
What Elyptus does
You describe what you ate, and Elyptus uses AI to estimate the calories and nutrients. You can review and change an estimate before you save it.
Estimates are estimates. They can be wrong, sometimes by a lot. Elyptus isn’t medical or dietary advice. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, have or have had an eating disorder, or need precise figures, please talk to a qualified professional before relying on it.
Free meals and the subscription
- Each new copy of the app can estimate 20 meals for free, with no account.
- After that, to keep estimating you need to sign in and subscribe. Your journal stays readable either way.
- The subscription costs £4.99 a month in the UK, or the price Google Play shows in your country. It’s billed by Google Play and renews every month until you cancel it.
- You can cancel at any time in Google Play. You keep the subscription until the end of the month you’ve paid for. Deleting the app or your Elyptus account doesn’t cancel it.
- Refunds are handled by Google Play, under its refund policy.
- If the price changes, Google Play tells you before it applies.
Fair use
- Each copy of the app can request up to 60 estimates a day, subscribed or not. That’s far more than a day’s meals need, and stops the AI being misused.
- Use Elyptus for your own meals. Don’t try to break, overload or copy it, or get around its limits.
- We may suspend an account that does any of these.
Your meals
What you write stays yours. You let us store it, and send it to an AI service to make estimates, only to provide Elyptus to you, as the privacy policy describes.
If something goes wrong
- We work to keep Elyptus running, but can’t promise it will always be available or free of mistakes.
- We may change Elyptus, or stop it. If we stop it, we’ll tell you in the app at least 30 days before, and cancel subscriptions so nobody is charged again.
- We’re not responsible for decisions made from an estimate, or for losses we couldn’t reasonably have foreseen.
- Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Ending
You can stop using Elyptus at any time and delete your account in the app: see Delete your account. Cancel any subscription in Google Play as well.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the date at the top changes too. We’ll tell you in the app about any important change before it applies.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your own courts.
